This week all our Anecdotes
will be about culture and the stories, symbols, legends and tales
that are told and displayed within your organization.
Culture is the intrinsic
glue that holds a specific together, and is what differentiates one
group from another. How the culture is contrived, communicated and constantly
active is what determines the strength of the unifying factor, team
cohesiveness, turnover rates and committment to the organization and
the group as a whole.
What legends penetrate the
conversations at the water cooler? Are any unique symbols readily displayed
or hidden? What stories echo through the halls between passersby? Wednesday
we'll look at some instances of how stories and legends play a role
in being the renewable energy to burnt-out staff, an ounce of support
when spirits are faced with what seems to be an unconquerable mountain.
Thursday identifies how
symbols play a role in our needs for identity and belonging, especially
being active in our professional lives. Logos, banners or unique colour
sequences of popular notation will be examined and discussed.
Finally Friday will piece
these together to demonstrate how a strong culture with a scenario depicting
these in action is an essential feature to any strong and progressive
organization.
These factors are central
in a thriving culture. A thriving culture's presence in the organization
determines the dedication, longevity and collectivity of its members.
