Did you know that, under present ornithoptic
design, a bee shouldn't have been able to fly?
It's amazing what can happen even under
the weirdest circumstances. Even a dragonfly, with the way it can so
easily control its forward and setback motion in flight makes one wonder
how this ever came to be. Our helicopters and other flying machines
were pretty much modelled after these weird insects but on a much more
advanced and larger scale.
But think about it from this perspective:
how many times have you been told you can't do something by others only
to discover you can?
Just like the way the bee flies despite
its large size and small wingspan, it's able to take to the tradewinds
with so much as a little flutter, kindly proving to its naysayers that
it can, in fact, fly despite their negativity.
When faced with doubt, think like the
bee: you may not be as big as they are, but you have one hell of a stinger.
The stinger makes all the difference
in a world where predators and prey interchange on a regular basis,
especially in the workplace. Those who may appear to be "friends"
may suddenly turn out to be your hunters at the blink of an eye; it
is with utmost caution that the bee constantly makes a reminder to its
potential predators that it's ready and prepared for the fight.
While using an actual stinger in the
workplace is not the best idea, using it metaphorically is a better
and more effective option. Simple things like keeping a vigilant track
of your accomplishments and activities during the working day and saving
all email correspondence (in electronic or paper form) are all excellent
forms of defence against unnatural hunters and predators.
Although here at Blacktalon we encourage
a more human environment and reducing the political trickery normally
found in our workplaces, that doesn't mean you shouldn't still be on
the look out.
Advance with caution yet with amicable
progression. You'll find that the stinger is there just for decoration
rather than as a true weapon.
